Jen Wolfenden

Jen moved to beautiful Santa Cruz in 1995 from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Outside the salon, she enjoys being a mom to twins Luke and Jake, playing backgammon obsessively with her husband, John, volunteering for Hospice, and taking classes in psychology. She is also a musician, and you may find her performing around town occasionally. Jen loves to cook, go for walks in her midtown neighborhood, and watch dark, psychological thrillers.

Passion for the art and science of hair has propelled Jen through 25 years in this amazing industry. She has dedicated her career to perfecting the craft of hair coloring and cutting, earning a reputation as a Master Colorist and Stylist. Her commitment to excellence is evident in her pursuit of ongoing education, ensuring that each client receives an experience tailored to the cutting edge of style.

As a Certified Redken Specialist, Jen brings a level of professionalism and skill to her craft that sets her apart. She believes in the power of transformation through hair, and her goal is to create looks that not only enhance your natural beauty — complementing your unique complexion and face shape — but also reflect your individual style and personality, all while placing the health of your hair as a top priority.

Jen’s attention to detail is second to none, and she takes pride in being a great listener. Your desires and concerns are at the forefront of every consultation, resulting in a customized and personalized service that exceeds expectations. Jen looks forward to pampering and nurturing you in an environment where you can relax, unwind, and leave feeling beautiful and rejuvenated.

NEW/LAPSED CLIENTS
A complimentary 15 minute remote consultation prior to scheduling is required to ensure the right amount of time is scheduled for your service(s). This can often be done by phone or texting and sending pictures of your hair. FaceTime may be used if needed. If your consultation needs go beyond 15 minutes, you will be asked to book an in-person salon consultation.

CURRENT CLIENTS
If unsure of how much time your service(s) take, please check in with Jen before booking online.

EDUCATION
Jen offers hands-on (your hands!) styling lessons, which her clients find very helpful. These can be scheduled as an ADD ON to any other service or by themselves.

CUT PREPARATION
Before a haircut appointment, it is most helpful for Jen to see your hair clean and dry, as it normally looks when you are out in the world. Washing and styling hair the day before or morning of your appointment is fine, as long as it is behaving as it normally does.

COLOR PREPARATION
Please arrive with clean, DRY, detangled hair. Clarify and use a light conditioner the night before or day of appointment. Avoid heavy conditioners or styling products before color services for optimal results.
*If you are having both color and cut, prepare as you would for a color appointment.
*If hair is not prepared properly, Jen’s hourly rate for the service applies for extra time needed. If that time is not available, the service may need to be rescheduled and a charge equal to the service as scheduled may be charged.

CANCELLATION POLICY
As an independent stylist, Jen asks that you respect her need for advance notice of cancellations. She would love the opportunity to offer your reservation to another guest if you are not able to attend. Appointments rescheduled or cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged the full price of the service(s) scheduled.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to your appointment, full payment will be required for the time reserved for you, whether or not your services can be completed in the remaining time.
